7 Words Profile |

"We shall never understand one another until we reduce the language to seven words" |
This is a system of thought centred on the idea that we can explain our behaviours and attitudes by categorising seven aspects of life experience represented by some of the simplest concepts available to us.
Explanation of principles
For many of us, life is beyond our understanding. It is too fast to contemplate, too complicated to understand and often emotionally overwhelming. Yet it is the practice of humans to try to grasp what it's all about, so we have created religions, scientific laws, myths, psychological frameworks, encyclopaedias and TV soap operas, all of which offer glimpses of the underlying patterns in life that show themselves in all aspects of human behaviour.
This particular system is another viewpoint; in this case a very simple way of looking at life and how we live it.The central idea of the 7 words profile is this: seven simple words are enough to codify all of life. These are among the first words we learn in childhood and yet they are not understood or used particularly well, despite their simplicity. By renewing our focus upon these key words we will simplify and deepen our attitudes to how we choose to live.
These are the words:
Properly used words are powerful and when misused, lose their power. A word is more than a conceptual symbol, it often has emotional charge and can motivate, inspire and enlighten. We can see them as archetypes - shall we say the foundation or fundamental building blocks of behaviour.
We all express all of them to some extent and usually a person is stronger in some and weaker in others - and this changes from time to time and over time yet with a marked degree of continuity. We don't want to pigeonhole characters for the sake of limiting and sorting as a form of attempted control. The opposite purpose is in fact the case. We suggest that self-honesty is a prerequisite for self-development and that development is life's meaning. Who am I? What am I? What is my life purpose?
In the final analysis there will be no way to answer such questions fully and accurately - for want of a suitable language in the very least; however, it is helpful to suggest categories in order to identify one's personal qualities.
Seven categories are enough to study personality at a very profound level - it's almost unthinkable that you will meet another person in your lifetime with exactly the same profile of strengths and weaknesses. So we can see that we are simply expressing our uniqueness in a simple codified language and as a stepping-stone towards greater self-awareness.
By choosing when and how to use these 7 words we can discover a greater potential for the development of the seven aspects of being that are present potentially in all we feel, do, and think. The purpose here is to provoke thought and to put forward a quick and easy 'rule of thumb' to help guide one towards a deeper awareness of oneself and one's life issues. The self-examination questions can highlight strengths and weaknesses in one's personal make-up.
"I think this is really simple and very profound Thanks"
"Pretty much spot-on. Well done."
"The assessment was very good; I am also at a stage in my life when I am quite aware of the self...you are completely correct in your assessments.... great work!"
"I haven't read EVERY word yet-but I will"
"One sentence in the personalised report really made me sit up and take notice....'It's important to move on when you are no longer fascinated by your current involvements'. AAAARGH!"
"… very intrigued to better understand how the teachings are used on an everyday basis"
"…pinpoints one's own stumbling blocks...please do contact me with more information"
"I think it was pretty well bang on and the feedback defined my personality"
"I found this thought provoking, and a good review of my inner work right now, especially in facing challenges when I am older and filled with many memories of life's experiences. Thank you for giving this to us "
"I needed to hear the push over comment!!!"Yes, yes, yes!"
"Doing this certainly highlighted how much I hold back from expressing myself in life!"
"Definitely an interesting way to spend the last 10 minutes!"
"I would like more elaboration on the 7 words- it sounds like you might have something there!"
"The words are fine --- good, basic advice."
"…good to be reminded to mind my p's and q's!"
"Thanks ... definitely helpful""It was very interesting, some of it hit home, the rest will wait and see..........."
"Thanks, I'm interested in learning more about this system and its application"
"Thank you James. I found the questionnaire easy and fun and will send it on to others. Also, the immediate response was unexpected and surprisingly accurate"
"I'll be forwarding it to friends."
"I enjoyed taking the assessment and it pointed out some positions I've assumed that need to be addressed to achieve what I want out of this life"
"Very helpful"
"I don't understand life anyway so now I'm even more confused!"
"Thanks for this - it has been very clear and useful"
"My over all assessment of the questionnaire = very helpful personal development exercise, serving to highlight issues that one might otherwise not have focussed on."
"great stuff...always good to have an outside perspective on myself, it's hard sometimes to see what is really going on."
"I had to ponder the 'forgive and forget'. Forgive is fine but what is meant by 'forget'? That you no longer remember what you are forgiving or that it no longer has any power to affect the way you interact with the person involved? I enjoy a little ponder. Thank-you 'Seven Words Adventurers'"
"…interesting way to put the spotlight on oneself...you are right, it picks up 'current issues' too"
"Keep up the good work"
"This was very interesting and accurate. I'd like to learn more about your method."
